Spring 2018 Release
Ancient Vine Angelica is a historic dessert wine from our 130-year-old Mission vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills. The oldest vineyard in Santa Barbara County.
It is presented in a hand-blown bottle with a hand-made paper label printed on a manual letterpress. The cork is sealed with estate-harvested bees wax.
"The multiple discoveries (the forgotten vines, the monks’ secret recipe) behind Deborah Hall’s project are fascinating enough, yet the golden orange wine is also utterly delicious. Old Fashioned cocktail-like aromas of maraschino cherry and orange rind mix with roasted nuts and a touch of brandy on the nose. Flavors of simmered honey, buttery whiskey and pear…" — M.K. "A fortified wine made from ancient Mission grapes. · Golden orange color in the glass. The aromas of honeyed apple, marzipan, roasted almonds and woodshed draw you into the glass. Well-endowed with intense flavors of grilled peach, crème brûlée, and fig. Hinting of port in character, this virile and slightly viscous wine is neither sweet or cloying. Paired with aged gouda, this wine will bring you to your knees. Score: 95. Reviewed July 12, 2015 Prince of Pinot
